Winter Garden
only the tough rooted survive
My garden is resting. Only the diehard Rosemary looks well. The wilting Oregano will come back, and the Strawberries will rebound. But the small plot is more empty of plants than it has been since I first planted it. The soil is dark and soft since it hasn’t stayed frozen here, and I’ve ripped out old roots, and rain has finally come. It is in a peaceful sleep, tucked under a pile of stone and a fairy home.
